ArtGnomon offers its expertise in forensic inspections, art authentication procedures, legitimacy issues and criminal investigations related to objects of cultural nature.

The application of unique analytical protocols, along with the employment of a varied arsenal of conventional and proprietary techniques out of our mobile lab (for on-site examination if necessary) , allow the detection, identification and documentation of the materials and techniques in an artwork.

The forensic examination may include a) the technical analysis and identification of inorganic and organic materials such as pigments and binding media b) the original regional manufacture, identification and dating of the grounds, base materials & substrate supports (wood, textile, paper, etc) or c) the localisation of signature and other inscriptions which may subsequently serve as basis for the authentication of an artwork by independent experts.
